(TBID) concepts and examine standard practices for the display and use of time-based information on Terminal Air Traffic Control (ATC) displays. Background: We reviewed literature to identify elements of TBIDs that were useful in prior research. This review showed the importance of color coding, timelines, slot markers, and advisories for TBIDs. The basic function of displays in HMI applications is to provide an information source-operators interact to obtain information or to prompt for the next screen. Display technology choices are dictated by the HMI system environment and its degree of ambient illumination, as well as by color requirements.
Over on his YouTube channel GusGorman has uploaded a tutorial which shows how he monitors ATCS (Advanced Train Control System) signals from trains. ATCS signals are found in the USA, and is used for things like communications between trains, rail configuration data, train location data, speed enforcement, fuel monitoring, train diagnostics . Creating an attractive product display can draw the customer in, promote a slow-moving item, announce a sale, or highlight new arrivals. If your storefront is fortunate enough to feature one or more windows, then you have one of the most proven (and least expensive) forms of advertising at your disposal.

About specific uses of color on ATC displays. Finally, the report summarizes what is known about the general benefits and limitations of the use of color on displays, the guidelines for use of color in the cockpit, and the existing recommendations about using color in ATC displays from air traffic organizations in other countries.
fectiveness of color use Task purpose of color use in ATC displays Previously, Xing and Schroeder () reported that color in ATC displays was primarily used for one of three task purposes: 1) To draw attention.
Colors are often used to encode information that needs to be at-tended to instantly, such as an alert or emergency. 2) To. ABOUT COLOR GUIDELINES AND STANDARDS.
Why do we need Color Guidelines and Standards. The consequences of poor color design are minimal in some applications (e.g., personal webpages), but in others the consequences can be life-threatening (e.g., flight critical displays in cockpits, air traffic control displays, launch-control displays).
tions of color use in ATC displays (Xing & Schroeder, ). We found that most decision-support tools used colors more extensively than the radar displays. In general, decision-support tools used a large number of colors that did not comply with the human factors guidelines for the use of color in visual displays (Cardosi & Hannon.
Color and Visual Factors in ATC Displays. Computer displays are one of the major sources of information for air traffic controllers to control traffic. Because the existing display technologies make it so easy to render color on computer monitors, color is being extensively used in air traffic control (ATC) by: 7.
of color use in individual displays. While the advantages of color seem to be apparent, many display designs do not ensure the advantages of color use in the ATC environ-ment.
Moreover, little attention has been paid to poten-tial drawbacks of color use. Xing (a) studied color use in a number of ATC facilities and identified several.
OTHER COLOR DESIGN GUIDELINES. On This Page: • Use color sparingly • Avoid overuse of saturated colors • Color can be a distractor • Use color consistently In addition to specific visual problems with particular color combinations, there are some more general concerns about use of color in graphic design.
